The fenced quarter acre retreat is your own private space for two, surrounded by SPACE.

Luxuriate in the outdoor bath, explore the organic orchards and fields; admire the whimsical artwork; recline beside the pond; feed the tame sheep; cruise on our cycles on the Great Taste Trail through olive groves and countryside to local wineries, artisans, beaches. Wander our open spaces, enjoying the birdlife and native trees. Grab a lemon from the orchards for your G&T or enjoy a delicious grapefruit for breakfast.

Kissing Gate has a luxury glass shower in a stylish bathroom, a full kitchen, a lounge with Studio fireplace AND an outdoor fireplace – toast your marshmallows under starry skies. It has many spaces tucked away to relax in. It comes with electric heating and gas cooking/hot water, so it is super comfortable all year round.

Kissing Gate celebrates a flavoursome twist of originality and creativity. The cottage is themed in ‘settler’ style with unique rustic design. The bedroom is roomy Ruby with a comfortable queen bed and views across the pond to fields. Pearl, an extra lounge, is themed in 1960s café/milk-bar style – she was the winner of the NZ 2013 retro caravan competition.

Check Kissing Gate out on the national glamping site Canopy Camping. https://www.canopycamping.co.nz/kissing-gate Enquire about our 'stay 3 nights; pay for 2' midweek deal .

To also turn your head, there’s a small decked area with a bar and bar stools to sit and relax and look over the glamping glade; there’s the original porcelain, claw-foot bath set outside on a roomy deck over a flax-rimmed pond.

You can hand-feed the sheep over the fence, if they’re around.  Lounge in the loungers or Cape Cod chairs facing the fields and pond. Spot the frogs in the pond (and the kingfisher trying to catch them).

All this makes for the most amazing kiwi glamorous camping adventure that you could ever wish for, and all just 3 km away from the stunning sea-side village of Mapua.

Come and walk through the blue shabby-chic traditional kissing gate and experience life as you’ve never known it before. Adele has poured her designer genius into making this a truly unique stay for you; a veritable 'secret garden.'

PS – Kissing Gates are so called because in the old days in rural England, when young couples in love wandered the countryside, the man would go through the gate, and not let the woman go through the gate until she kissed him! So – all you couples who come glamping at Kissing Gate – remember to carry on the tradition and kiss at the gate as you go through to the glade.
